kumusta sa lahat!
im so glad i found this site. i am as newbie to weightlifting as they come. although i've been into mtbiking and running for several years, it's only now that i've gotten into weight lifting.
i have always been fat all of my adult life. the last time i was not fat, (and actually skinny) was in my elementary days. but even before entering high school, i began to fatten up, and just kept on getting fat until about 4 years ago, when i maxed out at 240lbs. now im down to 180 or so.
due to current work location, i am unable to do mtbiking, but as luck would have it, there is a free gym (but very limited in equipment) where i live. i have been going and testing the gym, and i am starting to like it. and now, i am researching because i want to take weightlifting more seriously. i plan to build a home-gym when i go home.
for my first question, to the more experienced lifters out there, how does our typical pinoy diet match the requirement of weightlifting? i have been reading about nutrition on the net, but everything seems to be for american/western diets. although abroad, i am still able to have (and prefer) our typical pinoy diets of rice and ulam (sinigang, nilaga, kare-kare, etc). since 2009, i have limited my intake of rice, and virtually eliminated all junk foods and soda. i don't smoke and rarely drink. i eat lots of veggies and fruits.
my 2nd question is connected to the first.. although i eat relatively healthy, i would like to do body sculpting without the use of supplements of any kind, no protein shakes, no whey powder, no casein, etc.. is this possible?
yan lang po muna for now

Welcome muna! cheers
yes correct si taas, be consistent whatever diet style you choose.. Ako, my choice is Leangains, a form of Intermittent fasting and I still eat white rice lots and lots of it after workout until it blew my head and stomach off hehehe..
Chicken breast always and eggs.. the staple. Just add whey protein but never drink it, mixed it with non fat milk with oats, rice hola ala champorado fck up style carbo loading lol.. ( beast and shitty feeling ever after meals )
BTW welcome to pbb
I always asks this myself. At ako rin naman ang makakasagot ng tanong ko. Iba-iba kasi ang katawan ng bawat isa. As long as you have a great access on your nutrition... then yes, but it will be hard, real hard. Mahirap ng nga ang natty, mas mahirap pa kapag walang supplements. And another thing is, the answer with your question will also depend upon what kind of body you aspire...
Welcome to PBB, BTW.
so i guess the first thing on my list are chicken breasts and eggs i can do that.
at this point, i am 5'9 / 180lbs and (from search on the net) at 20-25% range bodyfat. with that, my initial goal would be to obviously reduce the bodyfat. so diet will be main thing (chicken, eggs and fish). combined with 3 days a week workout.
anybody hear of All Pro's Simple Beginner's Routine? I found it on bodybuilding.com.. im just starting with it this week. im still trying to determine my 10RM weight.
My opinion, it doesn't really matter that much kung anong luto kinakain natin kesyo western/ o lutong pinoy.
Ang mahalaga yung macronutrient contens niya. Carbs, protein and fats. Halimbawa nilagang baka, protein and fats present, may mga gulay pa.
Sarap iulam sa kanin (source of carbs), So why not?
Personal choice yung consistency sa type of meals. Personally masusuka ako kung araw2x pare parehong putahe kakainin ko. Ansarap sir ng Sinigang, adobo, nilaga, ginisang gulay, beef steak, fried chicken at triple burger! Haha.
Pero kung magcocompete kayo as a pro bodybuilder, well, that's another story hehe.
typical daily menu for me:
bfast: 2 eggs (fried) / coffee / 2 slices bread / banana
morning snack: apple or orange (sometimes wala), coffee
lunch: rice with varying ulam (basically meats and veggies)
afternoon snack: bread, coffee
dinner: rice with varying ulam again
so as you can see, my daily menu is very typical pinoy diet lang.. is this good or bad?
am i drinking too much coffee?
any groups here in las pinas/alabang area?
ah bf homes.. madami gyms jan.. do you go to any of them?
Don't worry, though wala na sa calendar ang age natin....nasa bingo pa naman....
